[edit] General
BOS and WebIce upgrades to include:
- Automated crystal centering in Mini
- Jun-3-08: debugging
- Jul-4-08: XREC on 501,502 ok; 503 needs attention.
- Oct 08: Fully automated screening on 501 was succesfull. Benchmark tests will be carried out as soon as beamtie is available.
- Nov 08: Benchmark tests indicates that fully automated screening is feasible, with a speed of about 5 minutes per crystal, including indexing, strategy and mounting
- Dec 08: Working on crystal-replacement: this will allow users to centre their crystals manually and stack them in a queue for data collection
- Automated strategy feedback while screening
- Jun-2-08: Reworking CA server
- Oct 08: In place and working
- Automated data processing
- Jun-03-08 Further design and debugging needed
- Oct-08: Made some progress. Identified major points that need to be adressed.
- Nov-08: Bug fixes and bench marks: strategy feedback is usuable for users
- Remote operation
- Jun 2008: remote operations tested extensively on 503. Feedback from remnote users on 501 was postive, no remote users for 502 as yet.
- Oct 2008: Remnote usage on all beamlines is a fact. Positive responses across the board
- Dec 2008: Remote usuage now open for selected non-PRT members. In total, we have now 4 groups that collect data remotely only
Robot improvements:
- New gripper
- in testing / refinement phase
- 3 more grippers will be ordered given 503 test results
- Dewar alignment
- Oct 08: new alignment procedure in the pipeline
- Dec 08: alignment procedure finalized: full dewar alignment now possible within 30 minutes without set-screw induced dewar movements.
- New base plate
- Needs testing / designing
Optics:
- Nob 08: Horizontal feedback is running on 501 and 503
Other tools:
- Auto beamcenter finding tools in BOS
- Implementation can start when beam is back
- Jun-20-2008: Basic routines work fine. beam center accuracy is of sub-pixel resolution. Some effort is needed to string all components (hardware related routines, beam finding routines and def.site editors) together.
- Jul-01-2008: hkl200 now has a new site file with distance / beam center dependence. Use AutoUpdate site when starting hkl2000
- Need Hobo to be running to have this in place.
- Ring current checks, tuneups and warnings
- Debugging will start when beam is back
- Tuneup routines on 503/501 now include horizontal feedback
[edit] 5.0.1
- KVM multiple display and keyboards santized
- Completed May-25-08
- Jun 30 08: New gripper fingers installed
- testing in progress.
[edit] 5.0.2
- KVM multiple display and keyboards santized
- Completed May-25-08
- New gripper installed and being tested
- Completed 8-1-8
[edit] 5.0.3
- Robot move to freeup space for detector travel
- New parts made
- Robot taken apart
- Horizontal travel shifted and realigned
- Jun-3-08: New holes in base plate drilled, system been put back together
- Jun-3-08: Alignment in progress
- Jun-4-08: Smart motor on horizontal dewar stage replaced, cryo post shifted, robot aligned, distance limits reset
- end of June: moves on robot reset for optimal cry alignment. Extra stage on 503 cryo installed
- Gripper tests
- Starts when robot is aligned
- Jun-5-08: Implementing testing routines (state machine)
- Jun-6-08: Testing testing routines
- Jun-7-08: testing gripper: stress tests indicate no signs of wear for over 1000 crystalks mounted. On average, over 50 xtals can be mounted withouyt failure. Failure does happen, but only on mounts, ratrher then on unmounts as with the previous gripper. Wideing up the gripper a bit might solve this problem. With a periodic warmup of 1 puck, failures are seen once in every 10 to 15 pucks.
- Jun-16-08: New gripper installed (inside opened up) and tested: with periodic warmup of 16 xtal, over 40 pucks were mounted without failure. 2 pucks with spine pins were mounted without failure
- Jun-16-08: Temperature tests indicate that xtals do not get above -150 during unmount and not above -165 during mount. The water glass transition is at about -118, so this gripper should work.
- Jun-16-08: Tests with spine HT pins worked out fine as well: new gripper parts will be ordered for all beamlines.
- Dec 08: Over 10000 samples have been mounted on 503: only one failed unmount due to gonio alignment problems
