The Berkeley Center for Structural Biology has partnered with the NSLS-II and SSRL Light Sources to provides year round beamtime to our non-proprietary users. The BCSB is actively scheduling users at these facilities during maintenance shutdowns at the Advanced Light Source and will continue providing access during the upcoming 22 month ALS-U upgrade. We hope to extend this program to proprietary users in the future.
NSLS-II – Fully Automated Collection
The BCSB has established a Block Allocation Group (BAG) agreement with the AMX and FMX beamlines at the NSLS-II light source. When the ALS is not running, the BCSB will provide “standby” beamline access to registered BCSB uses. This program provides fully automated data collection and requires the use of Unipucks and 18mm SPINE pins. For more information on joining the AMX/FMX BAG at NSLS-II please contact bcsbbeamtime@lbl.gov
SSRL – Remote Manual Collection
The BCSB has established a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with beamlines at SSRL to provide remote access user collection at Stanford beamlines when the ALS is not in operation. You must be an active BCSB user and complete all required SSRL training to access this program. Please contact bcsbbeamtime@lbl.gov for more information.
Expert Crytallography Collection
Our Collaborative Crystallography and Directed MX programs have established relationships with NSLS-II, SSRL and most other domestic light sources. These programs provide manually collected data performed by our expert crystallographers and are available free of charge to NIH and HHMI users.
