Before your beamtime, you’ll need a User Agreement with the Advanced Light Source (ALS). There are two types: a Nonproprietary User Agreement and a Proprietary User Agreement. Which one you need depends on whether you plan to publish your results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If your results will be published in the open literature, your research is nonproprietary, and the ALS does not charge for beamtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You own the data from your beamtime and can take title to any inventions made during it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What it costs: You’ll be charged a fee based on cost recovery for ALS usage.
