Collaborative Crystallography:CC Crystallographers
[edit] Banumathi Sankaran
Banumathi obtained her Ph.D from the University of Madras in 1999. Her Ph.D thesis was focussed on theoretical aspects of direct methods and experimental crystallographic studies on unusual amino acids and other organic compounds. Banu worked one and a half year in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Christian Betzel at the University of Hamburg located at the DESY synchrotron in Germany. In Hamburg she worked on several protein structures. In 2001, Banu moved to Brookhaven National Laboratories/NSLS to work with Dr. Z. Dauter on experimental phasing methods. Since 2005, she has been working at the BCSB beam lines at the ALS, where she provides user support and has external scientific collaborations.
[edit] Peter Zwart
Peter obtained his PhD from the University of Amsterdam late 2003, for work carried out at the Hamburg outstation of the European Molecular Biology Laboratories (EMBL) in the group of Dr. Lamzin. His thesis was focused on methods related to Automated model building in protein crystallography. After his work in Hamburg, Peter moved to Brookhaven National Laboratories/NSLS to work with Dr. Z. Dauter on phasing methods utilizing radiation damage and anomalous scattering. After his work with Dr. Dauter, Peter moved to Berkeley National Laboratories to work on the Phenix suite of programs in the group of Prof. Dr. P. Adams. He is currently beam line scientist for the sector 5 PX beam lines at the ALS.
